Or not contact need it a daily like tab. Kind of cool. I mean, um put in a book I don't want it to be like that. Yeah. But I'm gonna see what Printful has. They print stuff like that. Oh, okay. Like tablets just to rip one off each day.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00It's not bad. I have one on my desk now and it seems to be working for me.
SPEAKER_01Nice.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Well, oh yeah. What are we here for?
SPEAKER_01I mean, who knows? Who knows?
SPEAKER_00It's got a dirty napkin. I'm gonna try to do this no glasses.
SPEAKER_01We'll see what happens.
SPEAKER_00They're cracked. I'd rather the no glasses than the crass cracked glasses look.
SPEAKER_01That's probably a good choice.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Well, I mean, this week we we've had so many fallen trees that it might make sense to have cracked glasses.
SPEAKER_01Just nothing but disappointments all around, really.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01What can you do though?
SPEAKER_00Uh try and keep your head high. That's really all you can do. It's been hard sometimes. Yeah. These headphones are making it harder.
SPEAKER_01Uh pause that just because it does not pause, and I've been lowering it, so every week I've been having to fix that myself.
SPEAKER_00Wait, so that goes on to the recording still.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah. It just continually and it plays another song out there.
SPEAKER_00Even when you lower it on this? Yep.
SPEAKER_01This is just what it this is just what you hear.
SPEAKER_00Mmm.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Silly us. Or silly me. It's what happens.
SPEAKER_01All right, gang. Welcome back to Know Your Limits. Hey. I'm Rock. This is Roll. I'm Andrew. That's uh I'm Roll. Thanks for uh tuning in.
SPEAKER_00Um was that like a dig, like a fitness dig?
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_00I'm Rock and this is roll.
SPEAKER_01No, that's funny, though.
SPEAKER_00Well, that's yeah, it's real funny, isn't it? Mr.
SPEAKER_01Run every day. Uh nope, I I missed a run day. So marathon's off, guys. I don't know what to tell you. Sorry, better luck next year. Yep. Um no marathon is still on. Um training is going well.
SPEAKER_00Um You got a run tonight, don't you?
SPEAKER_01I got a four-mile run tonight, yes.
SPEAKER_00Four miles?
SPEAKER_01Four mile.
SPEAKER_00So where does that go? That goes it used to be two miles at that one, right?
SPEAKER_01There's there's two of them. Yeah. The longer uh run goes around Staufford Park and then comes in um essentially past your parents' house through that new neighborhood.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I heard you had to make a pit stop last week.
SPEAKER_01I did have to make a pit stop. Yep.
SPEAKER_00How did you call how did you call while you were running?
SPEAKER_01I that's exactly. I called while I was running.
SPEAKER_00You just picked up got your phone out and then threw your headphones? Yeah. That's hilarious. Yeah. Wow. Did it alter the time much?
SPEAKER_01I paused it.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01So no, it did not alter the time.
SPEAKER_00Um time I stopped I stopped at a gas station to get gum and something else to take home, and I think I had still like my best time running. It was just a good day. Oh, nice. I was really excited to get that juicy fruit. Must have been.
SPEAKER_01No, I paused it um and we got through it, but I thought it was a better look to uh inconvenience a friend than uh pee in the bushes, you know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Right. Yeah, it would it would have been different if uh Grandview wasn't so uh developed now with the woods on that street.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the woods would have been perfect there, but uh that's it now filled with families. Yes.
SPEAKER_00And yeah, you don't need to get in trouble.
SPEAKER_01I don't need to be put on a list. Yeah, you don't want to be put on a list just for going to the bathroom. Yeah, you know. What can you do? You're on plenty of lists. Yeah. Yes.
SPEAKER_00Speaking of lists.
SPEAKER_01Speaking of lists, um, yeah, let's go over the July 4th storm because Yeah, it's pretty crazy. Some people might not even have power yet to listen to this podcast.
SPEAKER_00They might not. There's a couple people that don't. Yeah. Um, I just got mine back today, actually. That's crazy. Yeah. You didn't even know it was there was a storm.
SPEAKER_01No, I live in Lancaster City, so it really was just some rain and some wind.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you were complaining that I wasn't sharing stuff on social media as I was driving my uh grandmother back to her house praying. Yeah. Um around fallen trees that have been here for hundreds of years.
SPEAKER_01Well, they had a good life.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. They made it pretty far. I mean, longer than any of us will. That's true. Um but yeah, yeah, I I guess it's was just the perfect recipe for disaster because they're all in full bloom, the ground is softer this time of year. Yep. So, you know, if that that sort of wind came through in the winter, yeah, there'd be some branches down, but probably not all of all of those uprooted massive trees.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, and I think that we saw that severity of storm immediately following that huge heat wave that we had. I think that was a huge contributing factor.
SPEAKER_00Um Thankfully a cold off after that, with the power being out.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. All over. That was nice. Uh came through July 4th around seven o'clock through the uh Grandview Heights uh and Valley Brook neighborhoods. Uh took down a bunch of trees. I think our office very widespread though. Yeah. Our office alone, I think, took almost a hundred claims from that storm. Um, so everybody's feeling it. Um, you know, hope everybody is safe still. And uh, you know, if you have any issues, document picture, call your agent, see what we can do for you. If there is coverage, obviously we'll explain how to get that done and how to get somebody into touch with you. Um, but especially after these big storms, um it does take some time.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, well, everybody's just over I mean, there's just so much to do, and we can only do so much every day.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and that's actually that's why uh we are a little late on this uh whether it's adjusters or contractors or anybody.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. You know, a contractor can't fix every house in a day.
SPEAKER_01That's very true.
SPEAKER_00Um PP and L can't put the power back up to every house in a day. No, it increases the stress for everybody. Honestly, we've we we didn't have power for almost a week at our house, but if you look at how widespread it was when it first started and that they're almost uh there's still a lot gonna be a lot of work, but to get power back to everybody within that amount of time is pretty crazy, actually.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, did they say like 30,000 people?
SPEAKER_00No, there was 250,000 that didn't have power. Oh wow at first.
SPEAKER_01Oh wow, okay.
SPEAKER_00Some of those could have been easier grids to reset or something like that, but I know that first night there was like 175,000, I think. Wow.
SPEAKER_01Without wow, and we're down to under 2,000 now, I think.
SPEAKER_00I think it's down to like 200 people. Cool.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, or 200 residents.
SPEAKER_00200 PP and L customers. Cool. So it could be, yeah. There could be four people in each of those houses. Yeah. Wow. Um Yeah, so pretty crazy. There's I've never been without power for like probably two hours.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I mean, even when um when I went to Cal U, we had a we had a snow week where the snow was so bad that it shut down power for a week, but not in the homes. It was all in um some of the apartments up at the Jefferson place, but it was mainly the school.
SPEAKER_01Gotcha.
SPEAKER_00So we got an email on Sunday night during the snowstorm that school was going to be canceled for the entire week.
SPEAKER_01Nice. I think I remember. Did we go up to Seven Springs that week?
SPEAKER_00I think you might have got that e I might have shared that email with you and you might have come down. I think that might yeah, I think that we might have partied that week. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01That was uh I don't remember, remember?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, exactly. No, I don't remember. Um that was that's we were at Smitty's house. Um and I remember jumping off his roof.
SPEAKER_01Nice.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, cool. Found my limits that night.
SPEAKER_01It's always good to know your limits.
SPEAKER_00But into a foot of snow, it was like a little porch roof. It was like eight feet, so it was nothing, honestly. Nice. Um probably you could even do it today at my age.
SPEAKER_01Getting up there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, getting up there for sure. Did you see any of those memes that people are coming out with? Like the it's like guy tries to hop like a little fence, and then he he's like it's like saying like you know, hopping a fence like I thought it was 20, but I'm 36, and then it he just keeps walking and it's like just his ghost, and then he looks back and his body's like playing. Yeah, yeah. It's kind of funny. Yes, yeah. But you're probably you're probably looking at it like whims.
SPEAKER_01No, mine is more of a uh um early wake-up. Like, have you ever seen uh seen they do the same thing at like gyms and the person like heads a soccer ball and it's actually a kettlebell? Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_00Nice, nice the algorithms taking us different ways. Yes, brick by brick. I just have dads hopping fences and picking up toys and then they're dead.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I don't uh it's not my it's not my algorithm. Yeah, no, you're in the gym. We're a little different. Yeah, a little different algorithm. Yep.
SPEAKER_00I have guys getting squirting with a squirt gun and then just it blows up. Um what? I was trying to incorporate some sort of toy that I would be playing with my son with. Gotcha. You know, it just ends bad. But what do we got here on this list?
SPEAKER_01Uh so we went over the storm. Um let's go over some fitness. What how's your fitness been?
SPEAKER_00I ran yesterday.
SPEAKER_01Nice. Yeah. What'd you run? 5k?
SPEAKER_00Three miles. Nice. Yeah, through Grandview Heights.
SPEAKER_01Nice.
SPEAKER_00Um it wasn't bad. I really got to do that. So I'm running here and there. I this whole and I know it's not an excuse, but like the whole storm thing kind of threw me for a kerfuffle?
SPEAKER_01Is that kerfuffle?
SPEAKER_00Kerfuffle? Yeah. It threw me for a kerfuffle. Um I know that Brian's gonna love that excuse because he probably hasn't heard that one yet. No. Kerfuffle.
SPEAKER_01Probably tell you to go kerfuffle yourself.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Which I have been.
SPEAKER_01Um, especially because like the power's out. Like Yeah, I can't run. Yeah, well, no, what else is there to do? Just sitting into your house staring at a blank TV screen.
SPEAKER_00Well, you still have to take care of your family, and we're like, you know, in and out of the house taking clothes to my parents' house and trying to, you know, figure out dinners and stuff. But yesterday I was I came home and I was like, I need to run.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I can imagine not fun. Definitely better to have it happen um in the summer than in the winter.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01For sure.
SPEAKER_00Well, I do like cold air, but there is a point where it gets too cold.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, and then you get frozen pipe issues potentially stuff. Uh can't cause more damage.
SPEAKER_00Don't want to be in the basement massaging your pipes all night.
SPEAKER_01Maybe you do, I don't know. Maybe you have. I don't know. You are.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so well, really any time of year, it's not a it's not ideal. Yeah, yeah. Let's just agree on that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so you're back into it. Um, I've been running. Yeah. My diet is sh is it's terrible. My diet is shit.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Well, and you you weren't feeling good the other day, uh, because I think, well, not to like bring this up or call you out, it happens to all of us. Um, you probably felt that way maybe from drinking a little bit on uh the USA game because you haven't been.
SPEAKER_01A hundred percent.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so it's like you you you're doing great, you're not drinking, you're eating good, and then all of a sudden one day it just all explodes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and it really follows. I'm not 18 years old anymore. That's really what it is.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's crazy. Yeah. So when you what the the crazier thing is is that your body gets used to if you go the other way and you just drink eat whatever you want every day, you kind of feel okay. Yeah. I mean, you don't feel the greatest, you don't have the most energy, whatever, but your body gets used to that stuff going into it. That's then when you're like eating clean, drinking just water, maybe a seltzer here and there, yeah. Um then you go all out for the United States. I mean, it's once every four years, you have to eat a whole pizza and drink a whole case of beer.
SPEAKER_01Well, and that's you the same thing with if you're just if you're eating bad and you're um and you're drinking all the time, you know, uh like I can go out and run four miles at any point, really. But if I was doing that, you know, the next day, my entire body would would break down. Kind of in the opposite scenario. Yeah. Um, so yeah, really just finding your finding your balance, knowing your limits. Yeah, know your limits. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's what this is all about.
SPEAKER_01That is what this is all about. Let's do a quick World Cup update. Um, what can you do? What can you do, uh, US fans? Uh we are out of the World Cup.
SPEAKER_00Um in a terrible way, though, too.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I take solace in the fact that there has never been a Belgian uh alive in the history uh of man that could meet Derrick Henry in the A gap in Baltimore in November. Um has never happened, so we hang our hat on uh five national sports, uh they can keep their soccer.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. You know, it's a tough loss though, because you won them all. Exactly. And I'd probably give up one at least for a year to go far in the World Cup. The thing is, I think we got that. I think that I think that what I would give up.
SPEAKER_01Over baseball? If you had to give one up.
SPEAKER_00Well, see, I think there's a different level of sport. Like there's no football anywhere else. There's no baseball anywhere else.
SPEAKER_01That's not true.
SPEAKER_00World Series of Baseball is a huge Well, I'm talking about like as big as soccer or as widespread as soccer. South America, yes. There's baseball.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, there's an in the entire country of the Dominican Republic would like to have a word, sir.
SPEAKER_00They are that's what the MLB is. It might not even be an American sport. So Okay, there's a couple countries that play baseball. Every single country plays soccer.
SPEAKER_01Well, yeah, but I think that even when they do the um like hockey international baseball, I don't think the United States has the best team.
SPEAKER_00Does England have a baseball team? No.
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_00Does Belgium have a baseball team? No. Does Morocco? That's true. Does China well, China does? Japan probably does.
SPEAKER_01Japan definitely does.
SPEAKER_00Australia probably does.
SPEAKER_01Show Nerotani would like to have a word.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, I I I understand. Um I don't know. It's weird how every sport kind of there's just different parts that they're played in. Yeah. Because Australia and England would be cricket. Would that be the comparable to baseball?
SPEAKER_01Probably, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And do we have cricket here? No. But there's probably an American cricket team.
SPEAKER_01I'm sure that there is an American cricket team, but they're probably trash. No offense. Whoa. Talk about crickets. I would give up, I think. What would would you give up hockey for four years for the US to win the World Cup? I would easily.
SPEAKER_00Well, the hockey's only once every four years, so You mean the World Cup? Well, the Olympics.
SPEAKER_01Oh, whoa, whoa, I meant like and the NHL. I'd give up the NHL for four years. Okay, I'm talking about international specific.
SPEAKER_00Gotcha.
SPEAKER_01Okay. I'd give up baseball for four years for an Americans to win a World Cup for sure, but they're not like dominant in Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, I I'd get rid of the World Baseball Championship for life for the United States soccer team to win the World Cup. What if When do you really I mean, not this knock on baseball? I always played baseball. I like baseball, but I'm not really tuning into the World Baseball Championship. I've I would follow the World Series, the playoffs, a lot closer than that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. It is big though. What if the world what if the world baseball championships still went on, but the United States couldn't play for four years?
SPEAKER_00That's fine.
SPEAKER_01Okay. I don't think I'd give up football.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but again, that's not played outside the United States unless the United States teams are flying somewhere else.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but if what if you got what if in for the next four years there's no NFL and all the NFL players have to find a a soccer position to play?
SPEAKER_00I mean I'm sure that some of them could work in some of the positions.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00They just wouldn't be able to dribble around anybody, but they'd be able to stop the ball.
SPEAKER_01I would think that Christian McCaffrey could probably play soccer.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, he's basically like Polisic. Yeah. Actually, we should build the soccer team based off the NFL players.
SPEAKER_01We should do that. You know what? Next week we'll definitely um we'll do a an all-sports American soccer team.
SPEAKER_00Um based off of NFL players?
SPEAKER_01NFL, NBA, MLB.
SPEAKER_00Dude, think about like oh man, there's gonna be so many good ones, I think.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, well, like the clear one that people say is like LeBron James in his prime, but like uh 6'7, 250 isn't doing much on a soccer.
SPEAKER_00What about Kevin Durant in goal?
SPEAKER_01Like in goal, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's what I'm saying. Yeah. You need some younger guys to, you know, with him.
SPEAKER_01Durant Johnson in his prime and in in the posts.
SPEAKER_00But you really just need to walk a lot in soccer. You just need to walk the right direction. Like if you follow Messi, he walks so much. He doesn't really run.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Not to say he doesn't run, because obviously does when he gets the ball or when he's chasing the ball. But people were talking about this yesterday on I forget if it was Fox or whatever. Um, how he's just always walking, and the difference between him and everybody else is he's so aware of where everybody is on the field.
SPEAKER_01Of where every person is on the field, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And it's just a different you have to have awareness to be even considered for those teams. So to have a level of awareness that those players are saying is way better than what we can even imagine is kind of crazy to think about.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, and that kind of that exists. And it's not big. That exists in in ba in uh basketball and it exists in hockey, off ball movement or off-puck movement, I guess.
SPEAKER_00Um yeah, your awareness is a huge thing for each sport.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but that doesn't happen as much in football or in baseball because it's very like start-stop oriented as far as reaction.
SPEAKER_00Um and there's more, it's it's more physical, and you have a helmet on, so your senses are a little bit shut down. For sure. Um, I've never played football, but I can imagine wearing a helmet would make you not to be able to hear or be aware.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Patty McKendry taught me that lesson real quick. Yeah, he taught me that lesson in lacrosse. Yeah, happens to the best of us, really. He knocked me out. Shout out Patty McKendry.
SPEAKER_00I went out for uh I went up for a pass from the goalie. Lessons learned, really. Yeah. Ball touched by stick, and that's the last thing I remember. Well, actually, the the last well, yeah, that's the last thing I remember, and then I remember getting up.
SPEAKER_01I started practice a boy and I ended a man.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was a humbling hit. Yeah. That's for sure.
SPEAKER_01So, real quick uh uh recap. Um yeah, the Americans lost to Belgium. Um it uh but they had just we didn't even really catch up on this uh because it did take us a week and there was a lot of soccer happening.
SPEAKER_00Oh, we didn't talk about Bosnia.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, the US beat Bosnia two to nothing, uh went down a man and still scored another goal.
SPEAKER_00Um they looked okay against them.
SPEAKER_01Uh France was taken, you know, pretty uh um pretty far by Paraguay. They needed a penalty quick uh penalty kick to beat Paraguay, and we had beaten Paraguay in the group stage four to one. So that was ride high on the city.
SPEAKER_00Everybody was so ex so excited. Yeah. But the US, that was the best game. If you look at that game, they were just I don't know.
SPEAKER_01They were just physical, they were just all confidence after after that second goal. Because they s uh Belgium scored. Uh the United States evened it up with that great free kick, and then inside of five minutes after that, they s they went, I think it was like two minutes. Belgium went right back down and scored again on a header, and it was a good one.
SPEAKER_00Which that guy up top, that guy that looks like he's 15 and he's like seven foot tall for Belgium. Yeah, don't like that guy.
SPEAKER_01No, no. Meet me in the A gap.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's not gonna play football, but he's a good soccer player, apparently.
SPEAKER_01Yes, yeah. He's uh uh Peter Crouch vibes for sure.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's just tall, skinny, yeah, athletic.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, fell Iene over here. Um what's his name, do you know? Hingadinga Durgan? I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Okay. I'm for sure getting that jersey. Hingadinga Durgen.
SPEAKER_01Uh shout out to the Brits. They beat Mexico 3-2. Um, that was a really cool game to watch. Um real quick scoring. Uh Jude Bellingham scored in the 36th and the 38th minute, so that was really cool. I watched him score that first minute, and then I went to go get a drink, and he had scored again before I even came back.
SPEAKER_00Um Well, again, you were drinking a lot of drinks that day, were you? Oh, wait, no, no. No, this was before.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, this was in the afternoon. Um it was water. Um I missed 10 goals. Um they took it with a penalty kick uh to it for the win. Um upcoming matches. Uh who do you you d uh you have anybody that you're that you're uh excited to watch?
SPEAKER_00Well, I think we have uh what's today? France versus Morocco.
SPEAKER_01Uh is Morocco versus Argentina. Oh. Unless this is wrong.
SPEAKER_00Uh well who plays today? Sorry, Wentz.
SPEAKER_01No, I I think it is uh I think Morocco plays today. Morocco does play France, so I'm not sure why this this message is Chad GPT can't trust it sometimes.
SPEAKER_00Did it say that?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Unless in the next round, if Morocco and Argentina both win, would they play? Is it predicting something?
SPEAKER_01I don't think that they would. I think they're on opposite brackets.
SPEAKER_00Could it be the final?
SPEAKER_01Because I believe Belgium.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so it's France and Morocco today at four.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Tomorrow you have Spain and Belgium. July 11th, you have Norway versus England. It's gonna get good now.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Norway versus England.
SPEAKER_01I gotta roll with I gotta roll with the Viking. I started watching Vikings again.
SPEAKER_00Wait, did you say roll with the Viking or row with the Vikings?
SPEAKER_01I got it both with the Viking. I gotta row. Ooh.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I got a row with the Viking. Yeah. Did you see his uh I didn't know he has a YouTube Holland? And he has a like a stream thing? Yeah, he has a YouTube that he does like a vlog.
SPEAKER_01Oh nice.
SPEAKER_00So obviously he has people that help him do the they do the video basically follow him around, but he was getting a cowboy hat in Texas the other day.
SPEAKER_01I did see some clips about that. Yes.
SPEAKER_00Seems like a good guy.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah. Yeah. He's off the field. Yeah. I mean, a couple hundred years ago, he would be the last thing that you saw right before you took an axe to the face.
SPEAKER_00A hundred percent.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I mean, all you would hear is, oh, oh. And you knew that you and your family were done for. Goodbye. I still think he's got a chance, depending on how how late they go into this, he still could potentially win the golden boot.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, who's the front runners with goals?
SPEAKER_01I mean, uh Messi and Mbappe, I believe, both have six.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, Mbappe.
SPEAKER_01Um.
SPEAKER_00So they're gonna be hard to beat as far as I think they're gonna I think they always give it to somebody that wins, right?
SPEAKER_01I don't know that that's true.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um it's not this it's not the NFL and it's not the Super Bowl. That's correct. Yes. Because you have to be a quarterback to win the MVP. Well, not always, but you have to be so much. A quarterback or a running back. Yeah. You can't play defense.
SPEAKER_01Uh that did happen once, I believe.
SPEAKER_00Charles Woodson?
SPEAKER_01I think, well, I don't know if he got a did he win a Super Bowl?
SPEAKER_00I think he won the Heisman.
SPEAKER_01He did win the Heisman.
SPEAKER_00And he played defense. But he played positions. He played both.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00As this this year's Heisman was sorry.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, know your limits, one sport at a time. My head is spinning.
SPEAKER_00Um what was I gonna say? The Heisman this year played both sides of the ball and should have definitely won the Heisman. I can't even believe that they were like thinking about not.
SPEAKER_01Um sorry, two years ago. Two years ago, the guy with the Travis Hunter. Travis Hunter, yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Well, didn't the other guy have arguably a better season, that running back from Boise State?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but he didn't play defense.
SPEAKER_01Which, yeah, means he was on the field half the time. He still did better.
SPEAKER_00No, he did better on offense, total yards, and stuff like that.
SPEAKER_01I didn't he break the the rushing. I'm pretty sure he broke the rushing record for college sports. I'm almost positive. No.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01You don't break the in the that's gonna get clipped if if if I'm right there. No, yeah.
SPEAKER_00You don't break the rush rucking rushing record and not get the highest.
SPEAKER_01You might want to look that up.
SPEAKER_00I will.
SPEAKER_01NCAA rushing record. Um, you gotta you got a pick for who's winning?
SPEAKER_00From here on out? Yeah. Where's our bracket at? Did we uh have that?
SPEAKER_01We'll throw that up right here. Um but uh Um I think that um today pretty well through the round of 16 at least, nine through 13 picks.
SPEAKER_00I want Morocco to beat France.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_00But I don't think it's gonna work out that way.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no. I mean, unfortunately.
SPEAKER_00But Morocco's been so good.
SPEAKER_01I don't I I'm not a big Frenchman. Um took French in high school, but yeah, I'm not a big France uh France fan.
SPEAKER_00Um they did help us get our independence, didn't they?
SPEAKER_01Uh very clear yes, yeah. So we think they crippled their own economy in doing so. Yes, so we led to the French Revolution, which led to um They gave up everything for us. So we should do French monarchy.
SPEAKER_00We should probably cheer for France every now and then, then. You know?
SPEAKER_01Listen, I'm all fine for that, but Morocco's Oh, yeah, we didn't get to the Moroccan.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we never got to the I was gonna bring one too. I had one. I found one in Malcolm's toys. I'm like, no way. All right. Well, there's plenty of time, especially if they win. Yeah, yeah. And even if not, we can just ring it in uh celebration of a good showing. Yeah. One of the Because even if they get smoked today, they still have what is that? They still have had a great showing at the World Cup.
SPEAKER_01And I would say To get to the Elite Eight is pretty good. Quarter finals is no no small technical.
SPEAKER_00That's what I'm saying. Like that round of 16 is like the make or break. Like if we would have won that game against Belgium, it wouldn't have mattered if Spain beat us five-nothing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00The world would still be all soccer even after that Spain loss because you made it past that 100% that point.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But losing that game and the way you did, everybody's back out.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, and I think the big problems is that there's just not enough um But soccer is such a there's just not enough money in youth development. There's a lot of money in youth soccer, but not in youth development.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but I also think soccer is a game that can sway. We beat Paraguay 4-1, we lost 4-1 to Belgium. France beats Paraguay 1-0 with a PK. Yeah, but I'm just different teams and different every day is a little different. They should be able to be more consistent. Half the people in the United States team don't even weren't even raised in the United States.
SPEAKER_01That's very cruel. That's very true.
SPEAKER_00And they don't play in the United States. Messi plays in the MLS and he's on he's Argent, he's gonna win the golden boot. That's so who's to say now he did play in Europe forever, um, or Spain. AC Milan, but Christian Polisic plays for AC Milan. That's where Ronaldo played.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but did you watch Christian Polisic in that game?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but when he plays for when he plays for AC Milan, you see him all the time and he's like a top scorer.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so apparently they were talking he hadn't scored a goal.
SPEAKER_00I think that he's January. I think that well, some girlfriend dumped him. I heard that, but there's speculation that have you seen his girlfriend?
SPEAKER_01I'd be debating.
SPEAKER_00This goes back into the let's just be clear. He'll he'll be just fine.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, I'm sure.
SPEAKER_00Was she that good?
SPEAKER_01I saw a picture of Messi and his wife the other day.
SPEAKER_00Can't miss that. Oh man. Yeah. Um were they vacationing? They were actually. Yeah, because they always are. Other than that, I think we're when we live in Miami. Have a house in Spain. Every day's a vacation. Every day is a vacation. Let's just be honest. Every day is a vacation for for Lionel Messi. I'm sure he has his issues too. We just don't know what they are.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Issues don't go away.
SPEAKER_00We're not out here just telling everybody our issues. No.
SPEAKER_01Um I mean, we are.
SPEAKER_00You could figure them out pretty quickly if you didn't watch us for a day. Um but yeah, I mean, good for him.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But other than that, I think the really the biggest takeaway from the World Cup has been um uh how good the games were. Just the quality uh of the of the matches themselves uh were really cool to watch.
SPEAKER_00They were and uh some very upsetting things, but also you know, cheers to FIFA for making it suspenseful and letting everybody celebrate every goal for five minutes and then being like up, up, up, up, yep. You were you were offside.
SPEAKER_01People have to be excited about it for people to want to play it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And every four years that happens.
SPEAKER_00I do wish we played we had more pickup leagues around here. Yeah. And maybe I'm just not researching them, but they'll have to used to just research us.
SPEAKER_01We'll have to yeah, we'll have to hit up Red Rose, do a couple um I'd like to just kick the ball around, yeah. Yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_00I mean, you know, we go in the we always go in there and then all of a sudden this 20-year-old's just you know, running the ball down our throat.
SPEAKER_01And this was supposed to be a 20-minute episode. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay, let's get going. Um Yeah, we're gonna get back on the Red Rose gang. Yeah. At least to sponsor the wall. There we go. When we go see it, we can kick the ball around.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Uh let's hit into the weeds before we get out of here. Um, Zach, what's your into the weeds topic this week?
SPEAKER_00Uh, I was thinking about this question when I was in bed with my son the other night, and he yawned, and then I yawned, and I was like, are yawns contagious? I know we've all thought this and we've all said this, but are they and how are they?
SPEAKER_01Gotcha. I did do some research, and apparently there's no scientific uh evidence that shows that yawning is contagious. Um, however, why does it always happen? Why does it always yes? You know, um every time that somebody yawns around me, I feel like I have to yawn.
SPEAKER_00And I feel like I try not to because I don't want to feed into this can conspiracy. Yeah, exactly. But then it like forces it's away into you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Oh, you don't believe in the moon landing? Amateur yawns are contagious.
SPEAKER_00I do believe in the moon landing.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Um, you know what? I'm it they're at least contagious to me.
SPEAKER_00I feel like there's always when somebody yawns, there's always somebody that yawns. And especially if it's just two people. I feel like you always do.
SPEAKER_01Now I didn't find any you know empirical evidence of like any case studies where like mass yawning.
SPEAKER_00Has nobody ever studied this? I guess it would be hard to get money for research for something that doesn't really matter.
SPEAKER_01That's true. That's true.
SPEAKER_00But we've been trying to get money.
SPEAKER_01Speaking of oddly contagious things that you wouldn't think, um, I when I was looking into this, I learned about the um dancing plague of eighteen eighty-four. Um and I'm sorry. This is still in the yawning. We'll come back to that. Um, but in eighteen eighty-four, during his expeditions in central Brazil, nineteenth century ethnologist Carl von Steinen, sounds like a Belgian to me. Um documented mass contagious. That's the name of the guy we were talking about. Exactly. That is actually, yeah. Von Densteinen. So that he was he documented mass contagious yawning among the Bacari people. He noted that when a meeting went on for too long, one person would yawn, triggering a chain reaction that resulted in the entire group getting up and leaving. Um and per a national geographic study in 2011, new statistical models showed that the rate at which people yawn contagiously were highest among people that they were familiar with. So your kin, your friends, um, as opposed to just a stranger across the street seeing it yawn, you're much less likely to yawn in response than to someone that you have a relationship with.
SPEAKER_00So it's really like a connection, like a neurotical, some sort of well, if it's you, it's neurotical, that's for sure. Yeah, 100%. Yeah. But if you have a connection with the person, you're more likely to. Yes. And I'm glad you had a 2011 study because I was gonna say we're working off the last study being in 1894. Well, that's how much people don't care about this.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, exactly. Um, but yeah, speaking of things that are so I would say that they are contagious then. We could say they're contagious.
SPEAKER_00Well, you can't say they're not. That's because nobody said that they aren't.
SPEAKER_01More contagious, yeah. That's a more contagious, but mean that they are contagious. Exactly.
SPEAKER_00Welcome to Mythbusters.
SPEAKER_01There we go. Um, but I did some research into some other things that you wouldn't think are um contagious that were, and I came up with this dancing plague of 1518, not 1884.
SPEAKER_001518.
SPEAKER_011518.
SPEAKER_00Wow, what kind of music were they dancing to back then?
SPEAKER_01Who knows? Um, but the outbreak began in July 1518 when a woman known as Frau Tofi and her daughter, Fraulein Emma Goats, began to dance fervently and uncontrollably in the streets of Strasbourg, France. Um according to the it to um onlookers, essentially it spread to people and afflicted anywhere between 50 and 400 people, were uncontrollably dancing, could not stop dancing, to the point that I think that they're just explaining a flash mob. Well, to the point that people died. To the point that like 40 people died because they could not stop, like they they were defecating themselves. This went on for uh for I think it said three weeks. Was this Woodstock? Three weeks of dancing where people could not stop dancing. The dancing plague of 1518. Check it out.
SPEAKER_00Who was the survivor here and who was the town doctor and who was the town?
SPEAKER_01No, the entire, like, pretty much a big part of the town, the entire town was affected. So like people watched this that didn't get affected, but like a huge number of people, up to 400 is what it says. Um was this on a Sunday? Says the victims' movements were described as spasmatic with convulsions, and their bodies were left drenched in sweat. So, like, not like a normal dance.
SPEAKER_00Like that sounds like a normal day at EDC.
SPEAKER_01Well, that's you know, but they didn't have DJ drama up there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they didn't have uh Shaquille O'Neal loot guy. They didn't have marshmallow. Must have been a sick beat.
SPEAKER_01Who knows?
SPEAKER_00Sometimes the beat can't leave your feet.
SPEAKER_01And with that.
SPEAKER_00This podcast is over forever.
SPEAKER_01Oh gosh. Anything else that we're missing?
SPEAKER_00Sometimes the beat can't leave your feet.
SPEAKER_01You got a banger of the week?
SPEAKER_00Um Messi's Vacation Photos.
SPEAKER_01There we go. Speaking of vacation photos, I'm going to the beach this weekend, so that should be fun. Ooh, nice. Likes the beach. What's your favorite beach activity?
SPEAKER_00Uh sitting.
SPEAKER_01I do love sitting.
SPEAKER_00Fishing. I'd say fishing is always so much fun for me. Because at the beach, you don't have to sit and fish. You can just, you know, rig up your rod, get it ready, cast it out, and you kind of let it sit there and you watch it. And you can do whatever you want.
SPEAKER_01I think my favorite activity at the beach is reading a book.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Because I don't uh What's that? Exactly. Sounds sounds great.
SPEAKER_01I know. I don't get to I I try and I try and read um pretty regularly, but definitely at the beach when it's like a little bit more relaxed, seems like I always get through a good book.
SPEAKER_00Get some Zen. Napping on the beach is always good. Love napping on the beach. Yeah. And that's basically what people are doing when they have a book. You know, all kinds of stuff. Everybody that has a book with sunglasses on, their eyes are closed. That's true. They're not reading. That's true. So you like napping with a book? I do. Okay. Oh, good that we got to the bottom of that.
SPEAKER_01Alright, cool. What do you got going on this weekend?
SPEAKER_00Uh, we just got back into our house, so probably just cleaning up.
SPEAKER_01Cleaning up what?
SPEAKER_00Well, we had a couple beds outside that we were starting to weed, and us not being there for a week there just completely. Why would you leave magnets outside for a rainstorm? Oh no. Flower beds, yes. So we got to clean up all that stuff and re-edge the whole sidewalk. It's crazy how it overgrew because that heat and then the rain, and it just recreated a whole entire jungle. When I was there today, I was like, it looks like nobody's been here for years. That's hilarious. It's kind of crazy. Well, make sure that you're gonna be a good one. You know, you get a bigger yard, you got more responsibilities for the yard, and which it's fine.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, the cars are gonna be way gone.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, and you're you're you this you're still on, you know, you got it probably another two to three years before you can put uh um a gardening tool in your son's hands.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and also there was people before us, not to say that they didn't do anything, but there was probably a year or two where it wasn't, you know, weeds weren't pulled, so we're trying to get it back to normal.
SPEAKER_01Passing the buck to the last guy.
SPEAKER_00It's it's a hard property to take care of with all the bushes.
SPEAKER_01I get it.
SPEAKER_00So figuring out which ones we need to rip out, figure it out, then you know, all this I'm trying, but it's hard with you buzzing around my head like a gnat.
SPEAKER_02Um exactly.
SPEAKER_00It sounds too like the real thing. Um please don't do that ever again. Uh I think that we are um that's it. That's all I'm doing.
SPEAKER_01That sounds good.
SPEAKER_00Next week I'm going to the bay house, though. Oh, cool. So you're coming back Tuesday? I think I'm leaving Tuesday. Nice. We might have to do a remote pod.
SPEAKER_01Maybe I'll just go down to the bay house.
SPEAKER_00You're good.
SPEAKER_01Maybe I'll hit the bay house on the way back up.
SPEAKER_00It's probably not far. No. You're going to Maryland, right? Yeah. What part?
SPEAKER_01Ocean City.
SPEAKER_00Oh, well, it's probably only like an hour and fifteen minutes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I'd imagine.
SPEAKER_01Well, it's kind of on the way home.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you're going to like the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. Yeah. I'll be up at the top. So come in through the mouth. And meet me at the top. I said the top. Yeah, I know you did. Not the back.
SPEAKER_01All right, that's going to be a good one. I'm not all the way in the back bay. Before we get ourselves in trouble.
SPEAKER_00Good gosh.
SPEAKER_01Well, um, you know, we appreciate everybody tuning in. Uh, it's been a wild ride. It's been a wild week. Um, and uh, we'll be back as soon as possible. Uh, I'm Andrew. That's Zach. Know your limits. Do that again.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god.
